…just over a week before the start of Nano.
And my plan is to get the first draft finished this week and to use Nano the finish the second draft.
Anyone who hasn’t signed up yet, still has time. You can even join a few days into November.
Will be posting weekly updates. Hopefully will do better than the past couple of years and actually get to the 50,000 this year.

Do you just have an outline that you are calling a rough draft? Besides that, isn’t against the rules of NaNo to actually write anything before November 1?
It’s a bit more detailed than an outline. I think as I write every day that as long as I write 50,000 new words during November then I’m happy. I think Nano is a personal thing. I know people who use it to finish projects, rewrite projects, I don’t think it necessarily has to be 50,000 words of a brand new story.
When I first started Nano I wrote 50,000 words of a brand new story from beginning to end and that was really useful because it showed me that I can write a complete story if I put my mind to it. But now I use it to focus myself on a particular project.
I do love NaNo. Even when it’s a background thing rather than the whole focus of my month (this is a background year) it’s still so much fun. I look forward to seeing your weekly updates, and hopefully I’ll remember to post my own too!
I know what you mean. I look forward to it every year – since I started doing it about five years ago. But for the past couple of years, other things have meant I’ve not been able to focus on it.
Whereas this year. I’m gonna go for it.
